Bibliography
Gurian, Michael. Boys and Girls Learn Differently: A Guide for Teachers and Parents. Sanfransisco, CA: Jossey-Bass, 2011.
1. The main idea or argument of the essay
· Helping Professionals and parents understand their children then going even further - to
help them learn practical strategies and systemic changes that successfully
teach children (pg 9)
2. An evaluation of the author or website where your information was found. Establish
the ethos of the source.
· The Author and his co-authors spent two years creating and applying their theories
of male and female learning stragegies. Michael Gurian’s coauthors include a
School Superintendent, a therapist specializing in adolescence; and an educator
who had worked for two decades in education directing programs relating to
corrections, diversity, and gender issues. The author and his contributors are
experienced in what this book talks about, they have created the programs and
tested them.
3. How or why this article/essay/etc. is important to your own research. If you feel
able, an honest evaluation of the material.
· This article is important to my research because we are focusing on arguments against
statewide standardized testing. This is a perfect argument. All children learn
differently, that is what they prove in this book, so it does not make sense to
make all children take the same test, for it will not show their true knowledge,
understanding, or potential.
